This year Austen Morris Associates individual staff, Advisors and directors supported the Community Center Shanghai’s Giving Tree project. The project began in 2003 providing a bag including a warm jacket, new shoes and a few small gifts for each child at a needy Chinese school. They have provided gifts to over 10,000 needy children in the local Shanghai area. This year because of Austen Morris Associates exceptional support we were able to donate bags to two schools in the Shanghai area, Guang Zhong (广中街道 ) and Ou Yang (欧阳街道) schools.
Just as Christmas is a special holiday for Western children, the Spring Festival is a magical time for Chinese children. They look forward to the gathering of family members, feasting, visiting friends and relatives, and receiving gifts. However, there are many children in Shanghai, whose families cannot afford to give them new clothes or toys. Giving Tree volunteers at the Community Center work with The Shanghai Charity Foundation and other local NGOs to “share the joy of Christmas” with children in need during the Spring Festival Season. This year with the help of Austen Morris Associates and other donor companies, The Giving Tree assisted thousands of children in need from the Metropolitan Shanghai area in need by providing a Gift Bag full of age/gender appropriate toys, clothes and school supplies during the Holiday Season.
We would like to thank our volunteer coordinator Mrs. Sonal Metha for helping to organize the bags as well as help with the ceremony, which truly shared the magic of giving. We would also like to thank Austen Morris Staff including Head of Marketing, Katie Littlefield and Associates for attending the gift giving ceremonies to represent Austen Morris Associates.
