Austen Morris Associates participated in the 4th Annual J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge on October 23rd held in Shanghai at the Xuhui Riverside Park. Congratulations to our Client Services Manager, Kelly Olver, for placing First in the women’s division, running the 5 kilometers in only 20.20 minutes, a personal record as well! Also, congratulations to Business Development Consultant Jayous Mata, Client Services Manager Melinda Zheng, and Marketing Consultant Kevin Mann for running a great race. Through the race, employees are able to take part in their corporate social responsibility, take part in the community, promoting health and wellness within the company, and strengthen employee relationships through team bonding.
This event is one of fourteen races hosted by J.P. Morgan taking place across the United States, Africa, Asia, and Europe. This year, a total of over 8,200 runners and walkers from 240 companies participated in this event, an increase of over 1,000 runners and walkers and 40 companies from last year.
The participants raced along the Huangpu River in the Xuhui Riverside Green Space for 5.6 kilometers, which is equivalent to 3.5 miles. This year’s beneficiary is the Ai You Foundation, which is a private charity foundation founded in 2004 and focused on helping children who are born with congenital heart diseases. Ai You Foundation has partnered with various medical institutions to provide healthcare for the children in need.
When J. P. Morgan Corporate Challenge first started in Shanghai, there were only slightly less than 4,000 participants. However, the number of participants has more than doubled since its debut in 2011. “Undoubtedly Shanghai has the ambition to become one of the major financial centers in the world. We do believe that not only our business but also our race will grow together with the city,” commented Zili Shao, chairman and chief executive officer of J.P. Morgan China.
