Austen Morris Associates is proud to sponsor the Shanghai Breast Cancer Network (SBCN). The SBCN, founded by President Susan Vassallo, has grown over the last five years from support group to a proactive and consistent financial sponsor for womens Breast Cancer treatment in China. The Networks primary goal is to help individual Chinese woman who are unable to receive treatments for Breast Cancer due to financial constraints. The Network also strives to provide emotional and other medical support.
The Networks current beneficiary, Mrs. Xumian Zhou, 54 years old, who was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and previously had a left mastectomy. There was no spread to her lymph nodes and therefore she was treated with an inexpensive generic chemo regime. Due to the incorrect treatment the cancer returned. The Network is currently sponsoring more intensive chemo treatments. Mrs. Xumian and other women are chosen based on their medical, financial and family hardships. The Network donates 4000rmb for each of these treatments.
They will continue to help more women whose lives are jeopardized by Breast Cancer and wish that we all can dig deep and support this local and worthy cause. In addition to sponsoring a specific treatment, they sponsored twelve ladies, both breast cancer survivors and nurses from outside of Shanghai to attend a breast cancer seminar, which provided information for doctors and speakers from all over the world.
