On Saturday Morning, August 9th, Austen Morris Associates sponsored this Falls first Shanghai 123 orientation organized by Community Center Shanghai. The events had fifty three new expats to Shanghai join and included a half day intensive info-session covering everything from culture shock, pollution, and advice on successfully adapting to the dynamic lifestyle in Shanghai.
Community Center Shanghai and Austen Morris Associates have been partners since 2011. Community Center Shanghai (CCS) is a non-profit organization, with Centers strategically situated within Shanghai’s international communities in Hongqiao, Minhang and Pudong. CCS responds to the ever-changing needs of the community by providing relevant programming that equips individuals and families to maximize their potential while in China. CCS bridges the cultural gap by offering opportunities to give and serve through our charitable programs, providing useful and enriching classes, practical and educational tours, essential orientations, professional counseling, and volunteer opportunities.
The event kicked off with breakfast provided by CCS. Newcomers, expatriate employees and supporting spouses listened to guest speakers and participated in engaging activities. Towards the end of afternoon, there was a chance for the attendees to communicate and network with other expatriates. Austen Morris Associates’ Partner Mr. Matthew Riddington who has been a large supporter of CCS over the past four years joined the event with Client Services Manager Mr. Michael Marriot. They provided financial advice to these new expats and enjoyed the morning of mingling and support from CCS.
