Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Austen Morris Associates Charity Client Appreciation Dinner with the The Napa Valley Vintners at The Gallery, Shook!, at The Swatch Art Peace Hotel on Thursday, 19th April 2012. We would also like to thank our hosts from Austen Morris Associates including Senior Partners Mr. Wade Dawson and Mr. Erwin Verschueren, Partner Mr. Alan Vassallo and Senior Associate Mr. Matthew Riddington for their generous support. We would also like to say a huge thank you to The Napa Valley Vintners for coming all the way from Napa, California with 40 of their best vintages to help ensure that guests dined in delight with a special menu prepared specifically by Corporate Chef for YTL hotels, Kevin Cape who is at the helm of the hotel and the popular new restaurant, Shook! The evening provided a great opportunity to the Vintners to showcase their fabulous wines of California’s famed Napa Valley. Not only was this a social event for Austen Morris’ clients and their guests, but it also provided an opportunity to raise fun for at least one heart surgery for a child selected through Heart 2 Heart Shanghai. Through our generous donations and raffle ticket sales on the night of the event, 25,000 RMB was raised and donated to Heart 2 Heart. This was one of Austen Morris Associates’ many efforts to continue to recognize the Shanghai culinary community for its continuous support of the successful Chi Fan for Charity Shanghai event.
During the evening, the 100 guests compared tasting notes with two vintners at each of the ten tables. The Vintners also shared the secrets of their methods and engaged guests with stories of life in Napa Valley. Wineries highlighted in the event included; Shafer Vineyards, Salvestrin, Wallis Family Estate, Moone-Tsai Vineyards, Waterstone, PEJU, Cardinale, Grgich Hills Estate, HALL, Heitz Wine Cellars, Whitehall Lane, Schramsberg Vineyards, Cain Vineyard & Winery, Cakebread Cellars, Swanson Vineyards, Signorello Estate, Howell at the Moon, John Anthony Vineyards, Somerston, and Spring Mountain Vineyard.
Thank you to all guests who purchased raffle tickets which raised 0ver 9,000 RMB donated to Heart 2 Heart. Raffle Prizes and sponsors included Boat Show VIP tickets, three tours from UnTour, a Live It Voucher, two Yak Scarves from Shokay, a Smile Dental Oral Health Care Evaluation, two Three Course Wine Dinners for two from Element Fresh, and two Toblerone Gift packs, two Cantabile Tin Reds, two Roka Delftware Tin Cheese Crispies and a Cote d’Or Mignonettes Gift Box from E.G.DistriSelecta.
Last year’s inaugural annual Chi Fan for Charity event that was sponsored and organized by Austen Morris Associates had over 26 of the city’s hottest and most well known restaurants on board along with influential hosts, and an amazing after party for over 200 guests. 100% of the funds raised were donated to our three charities – and was a great opportunity to get involved with the pre 2012 annual Chi Fan for Charity event at The Swatch Art Peace Hotel! 2012’s Chi Fan for Charity is set to bring another evening of good eats, good times, good causes to Shanghai on 10th November.
Heart to Heart Shanghai is a volunteer based Community Outreach Group which provides support and financial assistance to needy Chinese children who require heart surgery to repair their congenital heart defects. The Shanghai group was established in August 2003 and was initially known as Gift of Life Friends until its name changed to Heart to Heart Shanghai on 1 July 2006. This new name better encapsulates the work that Heart to Heart Volunteers do with children that are admitted for heart surgery at the Shanghai Chest Hospital, Shanghai Children’s Medical Centre (SCMC), Shanghai Yodak Cardio-Thoracic Hospital and other hospitals.
